Our Board

  • Lambton College is a community college whose staff, faculty, and administrators provide quality post-secondary education in Southwestern Ontario. Our mission is commitment to student and community success. The college is governed by a volunteer Board of Governors that is responsible for setting policy, establishing strategic directions, and monitoring organizational performance. 

    Lambton College is currently recruiting for one new Governor to begin September 1, 2017. Ideal candidates will have experience and can provide perspectives from the areas of agriculture or law or food and beverage services.

    Meet the Board

    • Christy Bressette

      Dr. Christy Bressette

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2014, Dr. Bressette serves as a member of the Program and Services Committee and is a member of the Lambton College Aboriginal Education Council. At present, Christy is the coordinator of Aboriginal education at the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada, and advisor to the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative, Aboriginal trustee (alternate) of the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB), the First nation representative of the LKDSB Special Education Advisory Committee and a member of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation Education Committee. Christy has earned a Ph.D in Education Studies, making her the first Aboriginal student at the University of Western Ontario to earn a Ph.D. Christy is an active supporter of programs designed to empower Aboriginal youth and increase parental engagement and community participation in education.

    • Carolynne Griffith

      Carolynne Griffith

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2013 and reappointed in 2016 for a second three-year term, Carolynne serves as a member of the Program and Services Committee, the Nominating Committee and the Advocacy Committee. Carolynne graduated from London Teachers College and later received a Canadian Securities Course Certificate. Carolynne pursued a career in farming with her husband creating together Art Griffith Farms Inc. and Griffith Seeds Inc. Carolynne also served as a Director and eventually the Chair of the Board for the Egg Farmers of Ontario. In addition, Carolynne served as Director to the Food and Farm Care Canada Foundation.

    • Laura Burke

      Laura L. Burke

      Internal Governor

      Laura Burke is the Safety and Security Specialist at Lambton College serving as the Internal Support Staff Governor. Appointed to the Board in 2014, Laura served as a member of the Program and Services Committee for 2014-2015, and currently she is a member of the Finance and Property Committee. Laura has over thirteen years of experience working in the occupational health, safety and environmental field in construction, industrial and educational sectors. Laura holds a Bachelor of Science from Western University, and Environmental Technology Diploma from Lambton College, a Human Resource Management Certificate and Occupational Health and Safety Certificate from Fanshawe College. Laura is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and has contributed to the development of two College Curriculums; a graduate certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management and a diploma in Workplace Safety and Prevention. Laura is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree.

    • David Cayea

      David Cayea

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2014, David serves as a member of the Programs and Services Committee. David is currently the Chief Operating Officer of PlantForm Corporation, a Canadian company with a novel, plant based technology platform designed to produce therapeutic antibody drugs at ultra-low cost. In addition, David is also a Board member of YMCAs of South Western Ontario. David is a graduate of Niagara College achieving a post-diploma certificate in Environmental Management and a B.A. Urban Environmental Studies and Politics from Brock University.

    • Kim Graham

      Kim Graham

      Internal Governor

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2015, Kim serves as a member of the Programs and Services Committee. Kim is the Lambton College Associate Registrar and is serving as the Internal Administrative Staff Governor. Kim joined Lambton College as an Admission & Registration Clerk in 2002 and has been active in the college community including the College Advisory Council, the Quality Assurance Council, and currently serves as the Board of Governors representative on the Alumni Association Board. Provincially, she is a member of the Ontario Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, formerly holding an executive role. Kim holds a Social Service Worker diploma from Lambton College, and is in the midst of obtaining her Bachelor of Business Administration.

    • Michael Lapaine

      Michael Lapaine

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2014, Mike serves as a member of the Finance and Property Committee and the Board of Governor’s Award Selection Committee. Mike is a Certified Professional Accountant and holds a Masters of Business Administration and a degree in English Literature. Additionally, Mike has completed the Rotman Advanced Health Leadership Program from the University of Toronto. Mike joined Bluewater Health in 2008 as Vice-President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer with responsibilities including directing and overseeing various clinical and support services. In 2015, Mike was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Bluewater Health.

    • Sandy Marshall

      Sandy Marshall

      Appointed as Chair of the Board in 2014, Sandy serves as a member of the Executive Committee, the Programs and Services Committee, the Finance and Property Committee, the Executive Performance and Compensation Committee, the Nominating Committee, and the Advocacy Committee. Sandy is a graduate of the University of Waterloo Chemical Engineering program. Sandy started his 30 year career in the chemical and polymers industry at Polysar Inc, moving through to research and process, product development and market development before moving into Operations and General Management. Sandy finished his corporate career as President and Managing Director responsible for Canadian Operations of Lanxess Canada. Sandy is the Executive Director of Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) and is also a member of the Boards of BIOTECanada, Soy20/20 and BlueOcean Nutrascience.

    • Jim Wodham

      Jim Wodham

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2015, Jim serves as a member of the Programs and Services Committee. Currently, Jim is the Business Manager of Local 1592 for the Millwright Regional Council of Ontario. Jim has years of experience in project management and project safety from his previous roles as a Millwright Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman and Journeyman. Jim is a graduate of Fleming College in Forestry, as well as, a graduate of George Brown College, where he received a diploma in Construction Millwright.

    • Janice McMichael Dennis

      Janice McMichael-Dennis

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2015, Janice is the 1st Vice-Chair serving on the Board Executive, the Executive Performance and Compensation Committee, and chairs the Finance and Property Committee. Janice is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bluewater Power (BP) Group of Companies. The BP group of Companies include the following: Bluewater Power Distribution, Bluewater Power Services, Electek Power Services, Bluewater Power Renewables, Unconquered Sun Solar Technologies and Bluewater Regional Networks. Janice holds a B.A. majoring in Economics and a M.B.A. with a Finance major.

    • Brian Fairley

      Brian Fairley

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board in 2012, Brian was the 1st Vice Chair until 2016 and continues to serve on the Finance and Property Committee and the Executive Performance and Compensation Committee. Brian is the Refinery Manager for Imperial Oil Sarnia. Brian has 30 years of service with Imperial Oil/ExxonMobil with previous positions including Vice President of Production for Syncrude Canada, Maintenance Manager of ExxonMobil in Texas and Refinery Manager of Imperial Oil Halifax. Brian is a practicing member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and Alberta Professional Engineers, Geologist and Geophysicists. Brian holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Windsor.

    • Bob Ferris

      Bob Ferris

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2014, Bob serves as a member of the Finance and Property Committee. Bob is currently the Regional Vice President of Personal Banking for BMO’s South Western Division. Prior to his role at BMO Bob was with the Lambton Financial Credit Union Limited, Sarnia for 16 years starting in Financial Services and Marketing, Controller and finishing as Chief Executive Officer. Bob graduated from the University of Windsor with a B.A in Political Science and continued to add to his education; most recently Bob received his M.B.A. from the Ivey School of Business.

    • Alan Warren

      Alan Warren

      Internal Governor

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2013, Alan serves as a member of the Finance and Property Committee and the Nomination Committee. Alan is the Coordinator of the Mathematics & Physics Department at Lambton College serving as the Internal Academic Staff Governor. Alan joined Lambton College as a mathematics professor in 2007 and has been active in the college community including the College Advisory Council, Curriculum Committee, and Research Ethics Board. Provincially, he became a member of the Ontario College Math Council in 2008, chairing the council from 2013-2014. Alan holds a Masters of Mathematics for Teachers from the University of Waterloo, an Honors Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Mathematics and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University.

      Judith Morris

      President and CEO

      For the past five years, Morris has served as the President & CEO of Lambton College, helping to establish the College as a global leader in research, education and innovation. Judith is a passionate and innovative academic leader with more than 30 years of experience working in post-secondary education. Morris hails from Northern Ontario, where she got her start working as a supervisor for a group home for people with developmental handicaps. Shortly after, she landed a faculty position at Sault College, and was named Dean of Continuous Learning in 1996, a position she held for eight years before assuming the role of Vice President, Academic at Lambton College. Morris holds a M.A. in Adult and Continuing Education, a B.Ed Specialist in Special Education and an Hon. B.A. in Sociology.

    • Mark Hiseler

      Mark Hiseler

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2012, Mark Hiseler is the 2nd Vice Chair and serves on the Executive Committee, chairs of the Programs and Services Committee, and is a member of the Executive Performance and Compensation Committee. Mark has been Vice President of the Suncor Sarnia Refinery since 2011. Prior to his current role at Suncor, Mark’s manufacturing experience includes Petro-Canada Lubricants, Clorox Canada, First Brands, and Union Carbide Canada. Mark holds a B.A. Sc. (Mech.Eng) from the University of Waterloo.

    • Michael Caverly

      Michael Caverly

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2016, Michael serves on the Finance and Property Committee. Michael is the Regional Vice President for RBC Royal Bank in the Lambton/Kent Market. Michael joined RBC in 2006 as the Manager, Financial Planning in Sarnia. Prior to joining RBC, Michael worked in the Financial Services industry for 15 years in a variety of roles through-out the province of Ontario. Michael has an undergraduate degree from Trent University and holds his Certified Financial Planner designation. Furthermore, he is currently completing his Executive MBA at Dalhousie University.

    • Liz Kenny

      External Governor

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2015, Liz serves on the Programs and Services Committee. Most recently Liz has acted as Executive Director, Chief Privacy Officer, for the Bluewater Health Foundation. Prior to that Liz served as Executive Director, St. Joseph's Foundation in Sarnia and was previously employed at Lambton College as an Advisor to the Dean of Business. Liz has obtained a variety of Management designations including Canadian Hospital Association, Departmental Manager Diploma and CFRE, Certified Fund Raising Executive. Liz has also contributed volunteer time to Boards such as the Blue Water Bridge Authority and served as the Chair Sarnia Centennial Celebration Committee.

    • Mckenzie Maxwell

      Mckenzie Maxwell

      Student Governor

      Appointed to the Board of Governors in 2016, McKenzie serves on the Finance and Property Committee. McKenzie is a first year Chemical Production and Power Engineering student. Prior to coming to Lambton College, McKenzie graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in Research Psychology. While at Laurier McKenzie played on the varsity baseball team winning an Ontario University Athletics Championship.
