PROGRAM INFORMATION

Lambton College is pleased to offer an accelerated version of the Massage Therapy program. This 14-month program utilizes two training labs that include a total of 35 stationary massage therapy tables in private cubicles and modern equipment such as whirlpool tubs and therapeutic ultrasound. Students participate in community outreach using new portable massage tables and chairs.

Surrounded by a team of professional faculty, including registered massage therapists and chiropractors, students are exposed to the practice of massage therapy, and the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body, while learning treatment, prevention, rehabilitiation, pain management and more.

The capstone project for this program involves an international field study.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Completion of one of the following degree programs:

  1. Bachelor of Human Kinetics - BHK (science-focused)
  2. Bachelor of Science - BSc (Honors Specialization in Kinesiology)
  3. Degree program that includes the requisite anatomy/physiology and other science preparation

PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS

Students must obtain a grade of C in all courses in order to graduate from the Massage Therapy - Accelerated program.

ACCREDITATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

Students qualify for free student membership with the Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario. The RMTAO promotes and supports the profession while providing professional services, continuing education opportunities, and research information to its members.

This program meets competency requirements of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). Successful completion of this program qualifies students to write the registration examination of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

 

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of the Massage Therapy program are often self-employed or work in a variety of health and wellness settings. Examples include offering of massage therapy in connection with health care providers such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, hospitals and health spas.
