Lambton College offers this four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program, in collaboration with the University of Windsor and St. Clair College. Students who successfully graduate from this program receive a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from the University of Windsor. Students who successfully complete their first and second year at Lambton College, will register as students at the University of Windsor - Windsor Campus for semesters five, six, and seven, then return to Lambton College for their last semester.  

The admission requirements for applicants to the BScN program will be those prevailing at the University of Windsor.

O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
Six courses from the University U or M stream and an overall average of 72% minimum
Grade 12 English U
Grade 12 Biology U SBI4U (minimum science average 70%)
Grade 12 Chemistry U SCH4U (minimum science average 70%)

Applicants with a gap of at least one year between secondary school and admission to the BScN program are required to provide a resume to the College showing all activity from the time the applicant left secondary school to the start of the BScN program. In addition, applicants are required to provide all transcripts from other post-secondary institutions. All university transcripts will be sent to the University of Windsor for review. Applicants must be at "good standing" and meet minimum grade requirements.

Course equivalencies can be obtained through Academic Upgrading and Pre-Programs at Lambton.  

Applicants from Pre-Health Sciences - BScN (Lambton College & St. Clair College Only)
Effective September 2010, graduates of the Pre-Health Sciences - BScN program will need an overall GPA of 2.7 and will need a minimum grade of 70% (B-) in Biology (over the two terms) and a minimum grade of 70% (B-) in Chemistry (over the two terms.)

This program is not eligible for Second Career or other programs under the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities (MTCU) - Employment & Training Division.

Field/Clinical Placement
All students must obtain - at their own expense - a current Police Record and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC). Students also need to obtain and complete a Health History and Communicable Disease screening form.

Without the required documentation, students are ineligible to commence placement. For more information regarding field/clinical placement requirements click here.

The College assumes no responsibility for ensuring field placement or program completion for students who are unable to provide a clear police record check.

Textbook Costs
Students can expect to spend approximately $1,000 per year on textbooks.

Additional Supply Costs
Students must also purchase uniforms, duty shoes, a watch, bandage scissors, and a stethoscope. Students are also responsible for all transportation costs incurred during placement.

Health Requirements

Students must complete a student health record prior to admission. This record must include a student health history, immunization for health care workers, and tuberculosis screening. In subsequent years all students, prior to each clinical experience, must submit documentation of tuberculosis status and update of immunization, as appropriate.

Additional Fees

Students can expect to spend $1,000.00 per year in textbook costs. Students provide their own uniform, duty shoes, watch, bandage scissors and stethoscope. Students are responsible for all expenses involving transportation to and from local community agencies.

Additional Information

Most placement agencies will require a current Police Record Check. The student must provide this to the agency prior to commencing field placement or clinical experience.
Approximate cost is $30.

School & Program Specific Awards

Thomas E. and Carolyn D. Walsh Award - Awarded to a “mature” student in the Bachelor of Science - Nursing program. The student is selected by faculty after completing his/her second year. Selection is based on high academic standing and an excellent medical rotation.

Dr. Gordon Scarrow Memorial Award - This award is awarded to a first year student who has demonstrated academic excellence and an interest and ability in the care of patients with chronic disease or disability. The student is selected by faculty.

Pensioners Concern Award - Recipients of this award are chosen after completion of the first year in the Bachelor of Science - Nursing, Practical Nursing or Personal Support Worker programs. A student is selected based on high academic success and an interest and ability in geriatric care. Selection is made by faculty.

Bluewater Health Auxilary Award - This award is given to a student with high academic achievement at the completion of his/her first year of the Bachelor of Science - Nursing program. The student must be returning to second year and they are selected by faculty.

Bessie Havergal (Forster) Parker Award - This award goes to a student who has completed his/her first year of the Bachelor of Science - Nursing program with at least a ‘B’ average. The student must also have a kind, empathetic attitude, see patients as individuals and be thoughtful in his/her approach.

MS Society Sarnia Lambton - Dr. Neil Carruthers memorial Award - Awarded to a graduate of the Bachelor of Science - Nursing program who has demonstrated the best performance in the care of a patient with a chronic disease or disability.
