This three-semester Ontario College Diploma program will cover basic aspects of renovation construction, and provide the graduates with safety requirements including fall protection, rigging, and Occupational Health and Safety. Graduates will gain valuable insight into energy efficiencies, green building products, and alternate building practices.

Graduates from this program will have the skills to work in a variety of residential and commercial construction settings including renovation projects. Graduates will be exempt from the Basic and Intermediate Level test for the General Carpenter Apprenticeship and may move into an general carpenter apprenticeship career in commercial and industrial settings.

O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
Grade 12 English C or U
Grade 12C College & Apprenticeship OR Grade 12C Math for College Technology OR any Grade 12U Math

Course equivalencies can be obtained through Academic Upgrading and Pre-Programs at Lambton.

Graduates of this program may find employment in the expanding residential renovation industry, new house construction, mercantile and restaurant renovation, and entrepreneurship. The program could allow students to enter into the General Carpenter Apprenticeship program once they have found employment.

Graduates of this program are exempt from the Basic and Intermediate Level test for the General Carpenter Apprenticeship.

Students have the opportunity to work with non-profit agencies over the course of this 12-month program.

Teaching House:
Students in the Renovation Technician program receive hands-on experience in Lambton’s own Teaching House. This house will be a 1600 ft²up two-storey building and will include, two sets of stairs, decks and porches, and a variety of floor types. Students will renovate this house on a yearly basis and will have first-hand knowledge of laying flooring, working with stairs, trim, baseboard, ceilings and more. The house will also use a variety of green technologies.

There are currently no transfer agreements for this program.
