Program Information

This program is designed both for the student intending to pursue a career in the human service field (security, social service, early childhood) or within associated fields, and for the student who may lack the academic background needed to be successful within these career streams. This one-year program enables students to explore different professional choices, while developing an academic and skills foundation to facilitate future program and career success opportunities. Following completion of this one-year program, the student may then choose to apply for admission within any of the associated programs.

Students who attain final grades of at least a B in ANT-2003, ENG-2113, PSY-1003,
PSY-1023, pass all their prescribed courses, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.3 for the two terms, are placed in the top category of applicants for selection into Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Worker, Law and Security Administration, Police Foundations, and Social Service Worker programs the next academic year.

Qualifying for the top category of applicants for the above programs does not guarantee entry into the programs.

Admission Requirements

O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
Grade 12 English C or U

Course equivalencies can be obtained through Academic Upgrading and Pre-Programs at Lambton.
