• The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is a program designed to provide students with the opportunity to start their skilled trades training while still completing an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

By offering the OYAP, students are able to transition directly from high school into apprenticeship training and the need for more skilled tradespeople, especially young people, is better met.

    How does the program work?

Students are registered as part-time college students but are still responsible for ensuring they are successful in their secondary school program as well. As a part-time college student, they will have access to all college services with the exception of psychological assessments.

The cost of the program, including registration fees, student service fees, textbooks and transportation, are completely covered through government funding.

Upon completing the program, students will be required to complete an evaluation.

    Registration Process

If you are interested in registering in the OYAP, please contact your student success team and they will be able to begin the registration process for you.

To ensure you meet all of the eligibility requirements, it is suggested you meet with your student success team in the early part of Grade 10 to make sure you can be enrolled in the OYAP by the time you reach Grade 11.
