In Your Deal With The World: Protecting and Commercializing Your Invention, students will explore the process of bringing new inventions to market and safeguarding intellectual property. The will learn about different types of patents and the legal protection they provide, the process of conducting worldwide patent searches to avoid infringing on the work of others, and the process of applying to register a patent in Canada, as well as additional ways of protecting an invention from theft and infringement.

This course aligns with Ontario curriculum expectations, fostering an understanding of the economic rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizens, the responsiveness of Canadian legislation to societal issues, and the ways in which advances in science and technology have influenced the development of Canadian law or may influence it in future.
