Turn your passion into a career, with a diploma in Culinary Management. Train in Lambton College’s state-of-the-art practice kitchens and newly renovated hospitality centre. Complement this hands-on training with in-class instruction from expert chefs and experienced professionals from the industry.
Students will have the opportunity to work jointly with hospitality and tourism students as they run Lambton College’s own restaurant –
Creations Fine Dining. This experience, as well as a co-op in the third term, provides students with authentic culinary exposure that will prepare them for a career in Culinary Management.
So whether you’re interested in running your own restaurant, becoming a pastry chef, or working abroad – this program has all the ingredients to cater to your culinary aspirations!
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
Grade 12 English C or U
Any Grade 11 or 12 Mathematics C or U
Course equivalencies can be obtained through Academic Upgrading and Pre-Programs at Lambton.
Mature applicants must be at least 19 years of age by the start of classes and be out of secondary school for at least one year. Mature applicant testing is available in the Counselling Department. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Culinary Management graduates can find employment at a supervisory, middle management level, in a variety of food and beverage operations. These include hotels, resorts, camps, restaurants from specialty to gourmet foods, clubs, banquet and catering, institutional, as well the potential for entrepreneurial opportunities, i.e. operate or own one’s own restaurant!
According to HRSDC the employment rate between the years 2007 to 2009 for chefs has been above average.
