    This course demonstrates the use of emergency ignition (flare gun) and the procedures for igniting a gas plume.

    Topics include:

    • Public safety and firefighting basics and definitions
    • Gases classified as NGLs and toxicological properties
    • NGL usage and regulations in Canada
    • NGL containers and storage
    • Recognition of an NGL release and dispersion
    • Pre-ignition hazard assessment and controls
    • Required equipment for a plume ignition such as flare pistols and procedures
    • Field practice exercises with flare pistols and plume ignition
