    International Student Emergency Medical Insurance

    Student looking online at insurance

Emergency medical insurance is mandatory for all international students at Lambton College. This includes students who are full-time and part-time and who are on a co-op. This insurance is provided by guard.me - a third-party insurance provider.

For coverage information, please refer directly to the Guard.me Lambton in Mississauga page.

The health care insurance is for emergency health care coverage during one's study period and involves only a basic package that is subject to change on an annual basis. Not all conditions are covered and prospective international students are strongly urged to review the coverage details prior to arriving in Canada. This will allow time to purchase additional coverage before departure, if needed.

The policy does not, nor is it intended to, replace the coverage under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), for yourself or any member of your family. Internationals students of Lambton College are not permitted to opt-out of the medical insurance fee but this does not preclude students from purchasing additional coverage from other insurance providers.

Lambton College tuition must be paid in full in order for the guard.me policy to be effective.

  • Peer-to-Peer Support - Let's Face It

    Lets Face It

Let's Face It is a Queen's College initiative to promote positive mental health among our students. This project is supported at all of Lambton College's study locations.

Our peer-to-peer student support is designed to help students who need emotional support and one-to-one connection with fellow students on campus.

Our peer mentors are both passionate about mental health as well as helping others. Through orientation and training, they are able to better help their peers through:

    • simple one-on-one conversations
    • provide a listening ear
    • suggest healthy coping strategies
    • connect them with campus and/or community resources

How to use Let's Face It

Visit us on campus and speak with the front desk reception.

Benefits to students accessing the space:

    • a welcoming environment, safe space for LGBTQ+ students
    • Compassionate and caring staff, volunteers and placement students who allow students to feel heard, supported, and connected
    • Quiet and comfortable space for those just wanting to relax and/or study
