icon-speakerMedical Insurance Fee - $660 per year provided by GuardMe

Emergency medical insurance is mandatory for all international students at Lambton College. This includes students who are full-time and part-time and who are on a co-op. This insurance is provided by GuardMe - a third party insurance provider.

International students of Lambton College are not permitted to opt-out of the medical insurance fee, but this does not preclude students from purchasing additional coverage from other insurance providers.

Coverage periods for studies starting in:

    • Fall term: September 1 - August 31 - Cost $660
    • Winter term: January 1 - December 31 - Cost $660
    • Spring term: May 1 - April 30 - Cost $660

    Effective Dates for GuardMe Insurance

Your coverage begins on the first day of the month in which you are starting classes. If your arrival date is prior to the start of the first month in which your classes begin, it is strongly recommended that you purchase additional emergency health insurance coverage until your Guard.me insurance policy begins.

E-Cards are sent to your myLambton email at the end of the first month of studies directly from GuardMe.

Lambton College tuition must be paid in full in order for the GuardMe policy to be effective.

For students in preceding intakes, updated charges will be reflected on WebAdvisor in advance of your fee payment deadline.

    GuardMe Coverage

Coverage does not include over-the-counter medication.

It is also important to note that coverage is for registered students of Lambton College only. This coverage does not extend to spouses or children. If you have a spouse or any dependents, you may wish to pay a supplemental fee to include them in your coverage. The policy does not, nor is it intended to, replace the coverage under OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), for yourself or any member of your family.

The health care insurance is for emergency health care coverage during one's study period and involves only a basic package that is subject to change on an annual basis. It is important to emphasize that not all conditions are covered and prospective international students are strongly urged to review the coverage details prior to arriving in Canada. This will allow time to purchase additional coverage before departure, if needed.

Please refer to GuardMe for international student emergency insurance coverage details as they pertain to international students.

Lambton College is not responsible for any of the costs of any form of health care services received or sought by the student.

Keep Me Safe is a resource available to International Students who need mental health counselling and have not yet arrived in Canada. Please contact student services for more information.
