icon-speakerMedical Insurance Fee - $660 per year provided by GuardMe

Emergency medical insurance is mandatory for all international students at Lambton College. This includes students who are full-time and part-time and who are on a co-op. This insurance is provided by guard.me - a third-party insurance provider.

International students of Lambton College are not permitted to opt-out of the medical insurance fee but his does not preclude students from purchasing additional coverage from other insurance providers.

Coverage periods for studies starting in:

    • Fall 2020: September 1, 2020 - August 31, 2021 - $660
    • Winter 2021: January 1, 2021 - December 31, 2021 - $660
    • Spring 2021: May 1, 2021 - April 30, 2022 - Costs $660

    Effective Dates for GuardMe Insurance

Coverage is effective only from the first day of classes - not from the date you arrive in Canada.

E-cards are sent to your myLambton email at the end of the first month of studies directly from GuardMe.

If your arrival date is prior to the start of classes, it is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance, including health insurance coverage, to cover yourself until the first official day of classes. Lambton College recommends that students purchase insurance before they leave their home country.

Lambton College tuition must be paid in full in order for the guard.me policy to be effective.

For students in preceding intakes, updated charges will be reflected on WebAdvisor in advance of your fee payment deadline.

    GuardMe Coverage

Coverage does not include over the counter medication.

It is also important to note that coverage is for registered students of Lambton College only. This coverage does not extend to spouses or children. If you have a spouse or any dependents, you may wish to pay a supplemental fee to include them in your coverage. The policy does not, not is it intended to, replace the coverage under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), for yourself or any member of your family.

The health care insurance is for emergency health care coverage during one's study period and involves only a basic package that is subject ot change on an annual basis. It is important to emphasize that not all conditions are covered and prospective international students are strongly urged to review the coverage details prior to arriving in Canada. This will allow time to purchase additional coverage before departure, if needed.

Please refer to guard.me for international student emergency insurance coverage details as they pertain to international students.

Lambton College is not responsible for any of the costs of any form of health care services received or sought by the student.
