New Leadership Appointments at Lambton College

July 18, 2019

SARNIA, July 18, 2019 – Lambton College is pleased to announce they have added a new face to their senior leadership team. Karsten Henriksen joins the College as the new Vice President Academic (VPA), assuming the role from Donna Church, who retired from her post at the beginning of the month.

Henriksen comes to Sarnia from Iqaluit, Nunavut, where he most recently served as the Vice President at Nunavut Arctic College. In his former role, Henriksen managed all academic and training programs, as well as research initiatives and daily operations. He’s also held leadership roles at North Island College in British Columbia, Yukon College, and Grande Prairie Regional College.

“Karsten comes well prepared for this position and ready to become an integral part of Lambton’s success going forward,” says Judith Morris, President & CEO, Lambton College. “He has a real passion for academic innovation, student services, and aligning programs with the needs of the community and local industry. His breadth of talent and experience will be a valued and welcome addition to our College as we work to advance strategic priorities and grow as a leader in education, training and innovation.”

Church joined Lambton College in 2008 as Director, Learning Innovation Center (LInC) & Part-time Studies. Subsequent roles included Dean, Executive Dean, and eventually Vice President Academic, a position she’s held since 2015. She announced her retirement in November 2018.

In other leadership appointments, Spencer Dickson will assume the role of Vice President Finance & Administration. Dickson joined the College in 2009 and has held various positions including Dean, School of Health Science & Interdisciplinary Studies, Executive Dean, Academic Affairs, and most recently Vice-President, Corporate Performance & Employee Relations.

Current Vice President, Student Success & Campus Services, Rob Kardas, will also assume a new title as Vice President, Student Services & Community Engagement, which includes The Lambton College Foundation. Kardas has been with Lambton College since 1997, where he advanced from faculty to Dean roles, and eventually Executive Director, Student Success before being appointed to a Vice President position, in 2015.

The shifts come following the retirement of long-time College leader, Margaret Dragan, who leaves her position as Vice President Administration & Finance later this month. Dragan is a 23 year employee of the College.
