Lambton College Wraps Up Sizzling Season on the Firefit Circuit

September 30, 2019

SARNIA, September 30, 2019 – Lambton College closed out their 2019 Firefit season in a blaze of glory.

Following a successful run of regional competitions that resulted in various medals, records, and awards, the team capped off the season at the National Firefit Championship in Oshawa where all 13 members managed to break their personal best times.

During the event, the women's team claimed three gold medals, which included Women's Relay, Women's Team Time, and Female Rookie of the Year for Julianne Brock. Brock also finished the Women’s Division in the Top 10.

Additionally, Pat Millington, who won fastest rookie at five Regional events over the summer, finished Nationals with the third fastest time for Male Rookies in Canada.

Firefit Assistant Coach Shane Bettridge also claimed two gold medals competing in Hybrid Relay and Tandem events (made up of competitors from different departments).

The National Championship concluded an incredibly successful season for the College’s Firefit team, who expects to be back on the circuit, ready to compete for next year.

Head coach Sue Patrick says the College has already confirmed that they will play host to another regional competition on campus next August.

“Our Lambton College Firefit Team was outstanding this year,” said Head Coach Sue Patrick. “I am very proud of our team’s performance all season. They did excellent job representing Lambton College this summer both at home and across the province.”

Members of the Lambton College Firefit team train at the College’s Fire School, renowned across the country as an industry leader in delivering Industrial and Municipal Firefighting training. The world-class facility features a four-story burn tower, which uses live-fueled fire props to achieve the most realistic firefighting training in real world scenarios. Participants are exposed to various props and fire scenes that are relevant to their needs.
