Lambton College Spirit of Caring Continues

SARNIA, April 2, 2020 – As the community works to win the battle against the evolving Covid-19 situation, Lambton College students and staff have been busy working to ensure the health and safety of those in need – while adhering to proper social distancing protocols.

Working in partnership with the Inn of the Good Shepherd a few initiatives are underway:

Student-Led City Food Drive:

The pandemic situation resulted in Social Service Worker students cancelling their upcoming planned fundraising and public awareness events.

When these students learned that the Inn was in desperate need of items for the food bank, they organized a “Drive By Food Drive” throughout the county. The food drive was a huge success and received tremendous support from Sarnia and surrounding communities including Point Edward, Bright’s Grove, Wyoming, Corunna, Petrolia and Aamjiwnaang.

“As faculty, we always hope that students understand the impact of a community coming together to advocate for the most vulnerable. This group of students certainly gets that. It really does take a village. We could not be more proud of them,” said Lori Green, Coordinator of the Social Service Worker program.

Alumni Association Partner Donation:

The Lambton College Alumni Association has an affinity partnership with TD Insurance. As a result, TD Insurance donated $5,000 to the Inn to help protect the well-being of the Sarnia-Lambton community.

“We are thankful to TD Insurance for supporting such an essential organization at such an unprecedented time,” said Judith Morris, President & CEO, Lambton College.

As the Inn of the Good Shepherd continues to work to meet the needs of the community, donations are still being accepted. Food can be dropped off at the Inn’s John St. location. Monetary donations can also be made online at
