Course

In this introductory course, students will be introduced to basic concepts, practices and systems that guide emergency management. Students will explore how emergencies are prevented, prepared for and responded to. Emphasis is placed on understanding individual roles and responsibilities as well as the legislation and standards that shape emergency management practice. As part of the course, students will explore emergency response planning and the Incident Command System (ICS). The course also introduces students to key functions such as emergency planning, documentation requirements and coordinating human and material resources
