The Trades - Entrepreneurship online certificate program is designed specifically for qualified tradespersons, allowing these individuals the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial competencies and skills. Small businesses continue to show growth in today’s economy, providing opportunities to tradespeople possessing a combination of trade and business knowledge.

Within the program, focus is on key functional areas of business related to entrepreneurship including business planning, operations, innovation, marketing and finance as well as legal and ethical considerations.

Through experiential learning, students develop essential practical skills needed to improve existing and develop new small businesses.

The curriculum is taken directly from the existing online diploma program, Business Trades, and is fully transferable into this program for students wishing to continue their studies.

Admission Requirements

O.S.S.D. or Mature Student Status

Mature applicants must be at least 19 years of age by the start of classes and be out of secondary school for at least  one year. Mature applicant testing is available in the counselling office. The test(s) will demonstrate equivalency in required admission subjects. For more information please contact 519-542-7751 ext 3412.

English Language Requirements for International Students

IELTS (International English Language Testing Score) of 6.0

IELTS of 5.5 + Completion of EAP-3106 (English for Academic Purposes) during first term of study.

Passed Lambton Institute of English placement test
-or-
Successfully completed 2 years of secondary and/or post-secondary education in Canada or any English speaking country

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of this program may elect self-employment as a small business owner or find employment in the trades-related fields as business managers, trades managers as well as trades operator.

Fees for this program are charged on a course-by-course basis. For individual course fees, please visit the course list and select a course.

Online course choices will have added software fees and book costs are not included in course fees unless otherwise stated.
