SARNIA, March 22, 2017 – Do you have questions about attending Lambton College? Perhaps you want to learn more about changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and find out if you qualify for free tuition?

Get the answers to these questions and more at Lambton College’s upcoming Open House, taking place on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

In addition to learning more about programs and services available at Lambton College, the Financial Aid department will be hosting two very important information sessions that will give incoming students the opportunity to ask questions about the Ontario Government’s Free Tuition initiative.

The latest updates to the OSAP program have been designed to bring free tuition to more than 150,000 students across the province by ensuring that non-repayable grant funding exceeds tuition fees. The new model will also allow mature students to qualify for more grants so they can go back to school to upgrade their skills.

Under the new guidelines, OSAP will make average tuition free for students whose families make less than $50,000 a year. Students from families that earn more will also benefit from more generous grants and loans, and about 80 per cent of all OSAP recipients will graduate with less provincial debt.

Lambton College’s Financial Aid department has been fully versed on the new guidelines and representatives will host information sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. during Open House to help students understand their financial aid options. Additional discussions about scholarships, bursaries and campus employment opportunities will also take place during each session.

In addition to gaining a greater understanding about financial aid opportunities, guests of Lambton College’s Open House will also have the chance to learn more about educational pathways and transfer agreements, tour the campus, explore labs and Residence, enter draws for great prizes, and speak with current students, faculty and staff from every program offered at Lambton College.

More information about the new OSAP guidelines can be found at Ontario.ca/osap. The website features an easy-to-use calculator that will let students know if they qualify for free tuition and how much aid they could receive from OSAP.
