Lambton College to host Canadian BioDesign Conference in partnership with Bioindustrial Innovation Canada

SARNIA, September 11, 2018 – More than 140 business leaders, educators and industry representatives from across the country are expected to arrive in Sarnia this week for the inaugural Canadian BioDesign Conference. The region has hosted smaller symposia in the past but this year’s event is expected to be the largest gathering on the subject to date.

The inaugural Canadian BioDesign Conference is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 12 at the Lambton College Event Centre. Hosted by Lambton College in partnership with Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC), the conference aims to provide support for highly innovative Canadian firms and the development and commercialization of new bio-product technologies.

The bio-based industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years, putting Canada in a strong position to drive the development of this emerging sector, a topic that will be showcased throughout the conference.

Event topics on the agenda include panels discussing “Building a Strong Hybrid Chemistry Value Chain in Canada” and “Bio Design Initiatives.” There will be a panel discussion on how companies have worked with BIC, Lambton College, Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, and The Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park to commercialize and successfully develop their projects along the hybrid chemistry value chain.

The day-long event will also include a tour of Lambton College’s newly opened Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies.

The conference will also provide an opportunity for networking, project and partnership development, and knowledge dissemination. Organizers also hope to emphasize the strong bio-economy growing in the province, and hope to continue the annual conference in other Canadian cities in the future.
