New Initiatives Create Opportunities for Lambton College Esports Students and Varsity Gamers

SARNIA, November 18, 2020 - A series of new esports initiatives taking place at Lambton College will bode well for both the program's growing reputation, its students, and competitive gamers.

As the gaming and esports industry continues to expand, the popular Esports Entrepreneurship & Administration program has also focused on growing its profile by creating a network of relationships with key businesses and organizations across the esports ecosystem.

Since the program launched three years ago, Esports Program Coordinator Matthew Hutchinson along with Esports Coordinator Tony Frangis have developed a variety of connections throughout the North American Esports gaming industry.

Most recently, Lambton College has been invited to join the Board of Advisors for the North American Collegiate League (NACL), an American-based, non-profit esports and entertainment organization that hosts video game tournaments and league play for universities and colleges featuring scholarship prizes.

The College also recently completed its first esports-focused research project with external partner ProGuides, a subscription-based program featuring online training for gamers. Players who subscribe to the service receive access to intensive, on-demand coaching from a variety of pros and personalities across top esports titles. As part of the collaboration, ProGuides has agreed to provide free accounts to all members of Lambton's Varsity Esports team.

Vancouver-based Adamas Esports Training & Performance Ltd. has also developed a groundbreaking partnership with Lambton College. A global leader in measuring and training esports performance, the company works with professional Esports teams across the globe and recently teamed up with Lambton - the company's first-ever partnership with a post-secondary institution. Over the next year, Lambton and Adamas will collaborate on a series of projects including esports-specific performance research, the facilitation of an esports performance camp which took place in fall 2020, and in utilizing the company's expertise and services to enhance the performance of the College's Varsity Esports team.
