Annual Research Ranking Lists Lambton College as #1 in Ontario, #2 in Canada

SARNIA, December 15, 2020 - Lambton College's strength in research and innovation continues to be recognized at both the provincial and national levels.

According to Research Infosource Inc., which released its annual list of Canada's Top 50 Research Colleges today, Lambton College currently ranks as the #1 research college in Ontario, and #2 overall across Canada.

Lambton has a maintained a strong position in the standings year over year, spending the last five years in the top three national ranks, including a #1 status in 2018.

The annual ranking and analysis of Canada's top research colleges is based on research income from the previous year. The newly released data also places Lambton #2 in the nation for number of partnerships and contributions from industry partners.

Throughout the pandemic, Lambton College has continued to demonstrate leadership in research through many collaborative projects focused on the fight against COVID-19. These projects include, but are not limited to, providing much-needed hand sanitizer to frontline workers in the Sarnia-Lambton area, conducting research to improve COVID-19 testing capabilities, development of action plans for long-term care homes, and developing and designing 3D printed parts needed for hospital equipment.

Furthermore, the College recognizes that innovation is at the forefront of many initiatives that have been developed and implemented in the past year to support education, operations, student experience and the community. In celebration of Lambton's continued success and to bring awareness the continued advancements taking place at the College, the Research & Innovation Department will host its first ever Lambton Innovation Week. The week-long event, which launches March 8, 2021, will feature presentations from various students, faculty, staff, researchers and College partners highlighting innovative initiatives that have been developed and implemented at the College.

Earlier this year, Lambton was also named the Silver recipient of the Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award on behalf of Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). Lambton College has won six awards from CICan in the last five years for research excellence.
