SARNIA, July 27, 2021 – After a thorough recruitment and interview process, Lambton College has selected its new Senior Vice President, Academic and Student Success. Mary Vaughan, most recently the Dean of Seneca Business at Seneca College in Toronto, joined Lambton College’s Senior Leadership Team on July 20, 2021.

Vaughan has more than 20 years of teaching and administrative experience. In her role at Seneca College, Vaughan oversaw 450 full- and part-time faculty, 60 programs, and over 10,000 students from more than 160 countries. She provided strategic and operational leadership in areas including student success, student recruitment and retention, and curriculum and research. Prior to her time at Seneca, Vaughan spent 18 years with the College of the North Atlantic in Newfoundland and Labrador, including 10 years as Dean, School of Business and Information Technology. She also taught overseas in Qatar.

Vaughan has served as Chair of the Board for the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs and transformed the organization to create a Canadian region, bringing together colleges, institutes and universities with business programs across the country. Additionally, she is Chair for the Association of Canadian Schools of Business, and has led a variety of applied research and student focused initiatives with a number of colleges across Canada.

“With her success in the college system and her commitment to values like innovation, collaboration, sustainability and equity, diversity and inclusion, Mary is well prepared for this position at Lambton College,” said Rob Kardas, President and CEO, Lambton College. “We are confident we have chosen an effective, collaborative leader for our exceptional faculty and support staff who can help guide the College into a new era of student success.”

Vaughan has replaced Kardas, Lambton College’s former Vice President Academic and Student Success. Kardas assumed the role of President & CEO on July 1 following the retirement of Judith Morris.

“I’m thrilled to have joined such a forward-thinking and student-focused College,” said Vaughan. “Though I’ve only been at Lambton College for a short time, I’m impressed with the academic excellence, experiential learning opportunities, applied research achievements, and commitment to continuous improvement I’ve seen across the College. I’m excited to continue working with my new colleagues to solidify Lambton’s reputation as a world-class college.”

In the role of Senior Vice President, Academic and Student Success, Vaughan is responsible for planning, organizing, innovating, staffing, and managing Lambton College’s academic operations and student success and services division. She rounds out a Senior Leadership Team that also includes Mehdi Sheikhzadeh, Vice President, Research and Innovation, and Spencer Dickson, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Services. This is an increased role for Dickson that builds on his previous role of Vice President, Finance and Administration. Dickson retains the responsibilities from his previous role and takes on additional duties, notably becoming the senior executive lead for the Marketing, Communications and Brand Management team, and acting as the strategic advisor and lead to the Board of Governors, President and CEO and Senior Leadership Team to enhance overall organizational performance.
