Bessie Havergal (Forster) Parker Award
This award was donated by the Parker family in memory of a devoted nurse, wife and mother - Bessie Havergal (Forster) Parker.
This award is given to a student who has completed the first year of the Bachelor of Science - Nursing program.
Recipients are those who have excelled as student nurses both academically and through thoughtful approaches in how they see patients as individuals. They will have demonstrated the ability to apply theory to clinical situations through organization and collaboration with members of the medical team.
Self-evaluation, seeking constructive suggestions, kindness and empathy for patients honour the memory of Bessie.
Eligible Programs
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this award students must:
- Have completed the first year of the BSNL program and be returning in the next academic term
- Be a student nurse who sees the patient as an individual and is thoughtful in his/her approach
- Be kind, empathetic, professional
- Maintain a B average or a GPA of 3.0
- Be well organized and able to apply theory to clinical situations
- Demonstrate the ability to work with all personnel

The recipient is selected by the Bachelor of Science - Nursing faculty.
