SARNIA, November 27, 2025 – Students from the Lambton College Fire School are rallying the community this holiday season with a food and toy drive to support families across Sarnia-Lambton.

Organized by Fire Science Technology students Samantha Guido and Ava Scratch, the initiative will collect non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys at Lambton College’s Main Campus in Sarnia and Fire School in Corunna. Donations will be directed to several local organizations to support families in need during the holidays.

“As aspiring firefighters, helping our community is at the core of what we do,” said Samantha Guido, Fire Science Technology student, Lambton College. “Service is a huge part of our training, and this is a chance for us to put that into action and live those values.”

The Lambton College Fire School will also be collecting food and toy donations at the Corunna Santa Claus Parade at 6:30 pm on Saturday, November 29. Fire students will be walking alongside a decorated fire truck and interacting with parade attendees.

“Just from attending Lambton College, we know how supportive Sarnia-Lambton is, and we’re excited to be working with the community to help take care of our own this holiday season,” said Ava Scratch, Fire Science Technology student, Lambton College.

The Fire School food and toy drive will culminate in a community drop-off event on Saturday, December 13 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm in the parking lot of the Lambton College Residence & Event Centre. Fire School students will be volunteering at the collection, and members of the community are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toy donations.

“This holiday food and toy drive really exemplifies what our Fire and Community Services programs are all about,” said Rob Kardas, President & CEO, Lambton College. “Our students are demonstrating a true commitment to caring and to the people and communities they will serve in their careers.”
