SARNIA, June 2, 2026 – Lambton College is enhancing its skilled trades training capacity with the relocation of its Plumbing – Mechanical Techniques program to the College’s Skilled Trades Training Centre (STTC), alongside an expanded footprint for its Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician program.

Previously delivered off campus, the Plumbing – Mechanical Techniques program will now be fully integrated within the STTC, creating new opportunities for hands-on learning and collaboration across trades disciplines. At the same time, additional space dedicated to the HVAC program will support continued delivery and improved student learning environments.

“These investments reflect our commitment to delivering high-quality, hands-on training that prepares students for meaningful careers in the skilled trades,” said Dr. Dave Machacek, Senior Vice President, Academic, Research & Student Success. “By bringing these programs together within the Skilled Trades Training Centre, we are strengthening the student experience through access to modern, purpose-built facilities that foster both technical skill development and cross-disciplinary learning.”

The co-location of plumbing and HVAC programming within the STTC will enhance the learning environment through shared resources, purpose-built training spaces, and greater alignment across related trades. Bringing Plumbing – Mechanical Techniques on campus also ensures all skilled trades students are well connected to the full range of student supports and services available at Lambton College. Together, these enhancements support the College’s broader focus on delivering programming that remains responsive to evolving workforce needs across the region.

“As workforce demands continue to evolve, it is critical that our learning environments evolve alongside them,” said Machacek. “These enhancements position us to continue delivering relevant, industry-aligned education while creating space to adapt to future opportunities.”

The relocation and expansion of these programs represent an important step in strengthening Lambton College’s skilled trades offerings and reinforcing its role in supporting workforce development in Sarnia-Lambton and Ontario.
