SARNIA, September 17, 2026 - The Lambton College FireFit Team closed out its 2026 season with an outstanding performance at the Canadian Nationals & FireFit World Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The team went up against the top FireFit competitors in the world and captured a total of eight medals.
FireFit, often referred to as the toughest two minutes in sports, challenges competitors to complete a series of firefighting-based tasks that test strength, endurance, speed and precision. Lambton College student-athletes rose to the occasion throughout the weekend, earning five gold medals and three silver medals on the national and world stage.
The team's gold medal performances came in the Women's Team Time, Women's Relay and Men's College Relay events. Brian Avalo captured gold in the Male Rookie category, while Keira Adams and Brittany Pegg teamed up to win gold in the Women's Tech2 Relay.
The team also secured silver medals in Men's Team Time, Men's Relay and Mixed Relay competition.
"Competing in FireFit challenges us physically and mentally, and that's part of what makes it so valuable for students preparing for careers in the fire service," said Keira Adams, FireFit athlete and Fire Science Technology student. "The training, teamwork and resilience required to compete at this level directly translate to the skills we'll rely on when serving our communities. We're proud of what we accomplished this season and grateful for the opportunity to represent Lambton College and Sarnia-Lambton."
The results mark another successful season for the Lambton College FireFit Team, which has established itself as one of the top FireFit programs in Canada. The team's performance reflects the dedication, teamwork and countless hours of training put in by student-athletes and coaches throughout the year.
