Overview

Working in Human Resources offers the opportunity to shape a positive workplace culture, resolve conflicts, and help employees thrive.

The Human Resources Management program is designed for university or college graduates eager to participate in an increasingly vital area of business management. The dynamic field of Human Resources is critical in today's competitive environment. Companies now recognize that strong management of their human resources provides a competitive advantage and leads to organizational success.

This program provides college and university graduates with a strong foundation in human resources and is designed around the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) competency framework. Students may wish to pursue the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation upon graduation, at an additional fee.

Admission Requirements

  • University degree, college diploma, or advanced diploma
  • -or-

  • Acceptable combination of related work experience and post-secondary education as judged by the College to be equivalent to the above

Course Fees

  • The costs for this program are charged on a per-course basis. Visit the course list below, for exact costs.

Textbooks

  • Textbook costs may be applicable to each course. Most textbooks can be purchased through textnet.ca, but some exceptions do apply. Some courses may have software or equipment requirements that are not included in the cost of the course and are the responsibility of the student. Please see individual course pages for course-specific textbook information.

Graduation Fees

  • Students who successfully complete all the academic requirements for this program should submit their intent to graduate in order to receive their credential. The graduate module can be completed on myLambton via Self Service.

    A graduation fee is added to your account upon verification that admission requirements have been met. For exact fees contact your Enrolment Services Professional.

Technology Requirements

In order to keep pace with the requirements of each and every course in your program, Lambton College requires that each student have access to a laptop while studying at our college.

CHRP and CHRL Designations

If you're working toward your CHRP or your CHRL designation pay attention to the courses marked with an *. These courses are approved by the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).

Our graduates have the skills to enter a broad range of human resources roles at the entry level, with potential for advancement into management. Graduates are employed in positions as recruiters, compensation analysts, pension and benefits assistants, health and safety assistants, employment equity officers, training and development assistants, labour relations assistants and other entry-level positions in human resources management.

Accreditations & Certifications

Human Resources Professionals Association

Students in this program complete all of the courses necessary to write the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam (CKE), which is required to obtain the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. There is a fee to write this exam.

Separate registration, eligibility and fees determined by the Human Resources Professionals Association will apply and the additional registrations are not included in the Human Resources Management program fees.

Students need to obtain an overall average of 70% or above in nine subject areas with no single course grade below 65%. Successful students will then be eligible to write the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam (CKE) offered by the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA). Separate registration and fees determined by the HRPA will apply and are not included in program tuition.

Credential Eligibility

If you are taking courses with the intention of completing this program and earning a credential, you must meet the Admission Requirements. It is your responsibility to supply proof of admission requirements to the Office of the Registrar before completing three courses in this program.

If you complete the program but fail to provide proof of admission requirements, you will be ineligible to receive your credential.

Technology Requirements

It is recommended that you use a Windows laptop for your coursework. While other devices like MacBooks or Chromebooks might work for some tasks, they may not support all the software required for your program. If you're unsure, check with your professors before buying.

Internet Speed Requirements

To get the best experience while learning online, we recommend having an internet connection with at least 40 Mbps download speed and 10 Mbps upload speed. This will help you use video calls, attend online lectures, and access other learning tools smoothly.

Because students live in many different areas, we can't suggest a specific internet provider. You'll need to check with local companies to find one that works best for you.

Laptop Requirements

In order to access the internet and virtually-delivered software and courseware, student laptops should include the following at a minimum. By meeting the following specifications, students will be equipped to access software and courseware on their laptop through the internet:

  • Intel i5 8th Gen Processor or equivalent
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 100 GB HDD or more
  • Webcam with a microphone
  • Wi-Fi capable (802.11n/ac 5GHz)
  • Windows 11 operating system

Mobile Device

Students will require a mobile device (smartphone) for:

  • Accessing your digital student ID
  • Using campus applications and services

Software

To ensure students are getting the most our of their classroom experience, some software will be required.

Lambton College has made this software easily accessible online. Students can leverage our Microsoft Office 365 software packages and services. In addition, much of the software you require for your courses will be available on demand for use on any device - on or off campus.
