Long-Term Student Housing in Sarnia
Sarnia offers a range of affordable long-term housing options for Lambton College students, including shared houses, basement apartments, apartment buildings, condominiums, homestays, and college residence, with many students reducing costs by living with roommates and choosing locations close to campus or public transit.
Some rental properties include furniture such as a bed, mattress, table, and chairs. Others may be unfurnished, which means students need to purchase or bring their own items. In the Fall 2025 survey, 67% of students reported that their housing was furnished.
College Residence

How to Avoid Rental Scams
Rental scams are real, and international students should take steps to protect themselves before signing a lease or sending money.
- Never Send Cash or Untraceable Payments
Do not pay cash, cryptocurrency or other hard-to-trace methods. - View the Property Before Paying
Visit in-person or have someone you trust see the property before signing a lease or making a payment. You can request our Housing Coordinator to view properties on your behalf by emailing housing@lambtoncollege.ca. - Speak to current tenants
Currently occupied units are far less likely to be fraudulent. - Demand a Written Lease
Always request a written lease agreement that includes the landlord’s name, rental address, rent amount, lease term, and tenant responsibilities. - Be Careful with Prices That Seem Too Good to Be True
Research average rental prices in Sarnia. If a rental is much cheaper than similar options, it may be a scam
