All functional areas of business rely in large part on information systems. Employers expect new hires to possess a minimum level of computer proficiency and understanding of information systems. An understanding of the principles of information systems helps future managers avoid mistakes that could result in costly consequences. This course will examine information systems, information flows, source document flows, design for effective data storage and retrieval, auditing controls and computer systems with a focus on information that executives could use to support decision making. MS Access will be used to provide illustration and practice in database concepts.
