Exploring Diversity & Equity: Intersectionality

Exploring Diversity & Equity: Intersectionality | FREE-0590

Exploring Diversity and Equity is a series of eBit mini-courses designed to help students cultivate an appreciation for diversity and develop confidence and curiosity when interacting with other people. It is recommended that students complete the first two eBits in the Exploring Diversity & Equity series - A Brief Introduction and Acknowledging Unconscious Bias - before taking the other eBits in the series.

Intersectionality describes the multiple, intersecting identities individuals have as well as the ways those identities collectively influence their experiences, the opportunities available to them, and the barriers they face. It is a central concept for exploring how systems of privilege and oppression operate in our society.

In Exploring Diversity & Equity: Intersectionality, students will learn about the concept of identity; the difference between visible and invisible markers of identity; diversity and its significance in the workplace; the difference between equality and equity; and the concept of intersectionality, its origins, and the ways it can address complex social inequalities.
