Placement Info

Students entering this program must meet specific field/clinical requirements by a specified deadline to be eligible for placement with our community partners.

Once you've applied to Lambton College, you can log in to and view program-specific Field & Clinical Placement requirements.

Field Placement in the Sports and Recreation program is offered using a concurrent model where students attend classes while also completing Field Placement requirements. To be eligible for Field Placement students must meet the criteria established by Co-op & Career Services Department. Those who do not meet this criteria or choose to opt out of the Field Placement opportunity are required to take the academic course identified as the alternative. While an academic alternative is provided, eligible students are strongly encouraged to participate in Field Placement because the job-related experience and skill development provided to students positions them to experience a higher rate of employment upon graduation.

Where can students complete a Field Placement?

This program has a fantastic partnership agreement with the Sarnia Sting hockey club of the Ontario Hockey League where students can gain practical experience working directly with both the sports organization and the league in a variety of capacities.

Within our own Athletic & Fitness Centre, students are also able to gain valuable experiences in a variety of positions offered throughout the year. Although we are are pleased to offer opportunities through our partnership with the Sarnia Sting, eligible students may pursue other equally relevant, industry-related opportunities.

Please Note: Field Placement often requires students to provide their own source of transportation to/from the regular place of business.

Students in the Sports & Recreation Management program are also encouraged to become involved in other events and activities at Lambton College and in the community to increase their industry network, gain valuable experience and further develop their skills. Opportunities include working with community partners in planning and delivering community events and fundraisers, volunteering at sporting events and tournaments and participating in Let's Face It!, Enactus or any other group or club offered at Lambton College.
