This Ontario College Certificate program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to be an effective member of a food service team in a commercial, institutional or long-term care facility. The program covers food preparation, service, nutrition and sanitation practices, customer service, communications and business skills. This program includes a field placement in an institutional food service operation. Students are required to have a valid Food Handling certificate.

Admission Requirements
O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
Mature applicants must be at least 19 years of age by the start of classes, be out of secondary school for at least one year and usually do not have a high school diploma. Mature applicant testing for this program is available in the Counselling Department in the subject of English. The test(s) will demonstrate proficiency in required admission subjects. For more information please contact the Counselling Department at x 3412.
Applications for this program are not accepted through ontariocolleges.ca.
If you are taking part-time courses with the intention of completing a program and earning a credential,
you must meet Admission Requirements outlined on the program page. It is the student's responsibility to supply proof of admission
requirements to the Office of the Registrar before he/she has completed three courses in the program.
If you do complete the program and do not have the appropriate admission requirements, you will be ineligible to receive
your certificate or diploma.
If you believe you have an equivalent level of knowledge and would like credit for Prior Learning Assessment, please contact
Counselling at 519-479-1023 at least two weeks before classes begin.

Graduation Requirements
All theory and general education courses must be completed prior to beginning FSWP-1073 Food Service Worker Field Placement. Students are required to arrange their own field placement opportunity. Students are advised that SCI-1103 Nutrition is not an eligible general elective for this program.
