Graduation Requirements

All theory and general education courses must be completed prior to beginning FSWP-1073 Food Service Worker Field Placement. Students are required to arrange their own field placement opportunity. Students are advised that SCI-1103 Nutrition is not an eligible general elective for this program.

This Ontario College Certificate program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to be an effective member of a food service team in a commercial, institutional or long-term care facility. The program covers food preparation, service, nutrition and sanitation practices, customer service, communications and business skills. This program includes a field placement in an institutional food service operation. Students are required to have a valid Food Handling certificate.

Please Note: All theory courses are available on a full-time and part-time basis and are offered online.
Admission Requirements

O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:

Mature applicants must be at least 19 years of age by the start of classes, be out of secondary school for at least one year and usually do not have a high school diploma. Mature applicant testing for this program is available in the Counselling Department in the subject of English. The test(s) will demonstrate proficiency in required admission subjects. Employment Opportunities

Graduates of this program may seek employment in long term-care facilities as dietary aides in institutional food service facilities.
