Bio & Academic Background

Michelle Shelswell is currently a professor at Lambton College. Before becoming professor at Lambton College, Shelswell worked for various residential, school-based and community-based agencies. Michelle was the client services team manager and program development lead for Rebound for the past eight years.

As impressive as her credentials are, Shelswell says that being a child and youth worker is what defines her. After accepting a full-time teaching role at Lambton College, she says she rediscovered her passion for research, which is something she was introduced to in a previous management role at a local agency. Knowing that research ultimately make programs and services purposeful and relevant for children and youth is what drives her to want to learn more. Shelswell was able to secure a grant from the Research Innovation fund at Lambton College to work in partnership with Sarnia-Lambton Rebound researching the effectiveness of a drama-based program they offer called Act II.
