Bio & Academic Background

Doctor Simon Yiu graduated from Hong Kong University with a Masters degree in Chemistry. Following his graduation he spent several years working as a chemical engineer in the power generation industry. He later attended Sheffield University in England where he studied to obtain his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering & Fuel Technology. Before settling in a career in tertiary education, Yiu spent much of his career engaging in academic research and industrial research and development. He currently works as a Professor with Lambton College's School of Technology & Trades.

Working closely with Lambton College's industry partners to develop novel processing technologies, Yiu engineers designs for pilot and demonstration process scale-up as a critical step to bridging the commercialization gap. Through his expertise in chemical processes and operations engineering, Yiu supports Lambton College's clean technology projects with innovative concepts for feedstock and chemical processing, co-product utilization and commercial production modelling.
