The new OSAP program is now accepting applications for fall 2017

SARNIA, March 31, 2017 – Applications for the new Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) are now open. The latest updates to the OSAP program have been designed to bring free tuition to more than 200,000 students across the province by ensuring that non-repayable grant funding exceeds tuition fees. The new model will also allow adult learners to qualify for more grants so they can go back to school to upgrade their skills.

Lambton College’s Financial Aid department will be hosting two very important information sessions during Spring Open House on Saturday, April 1, that will give incoming students the opportunity to ask questions about the Ontario Government’s Free Tuition initiative.

Guests of Saturday’s event will have the opportunity to learn more about how the new OSAP will help more students pursue higher education based on their ability to learn, not on their ability to pay.

Under the new guidelines, OSAP will make average tuition free for students whose families make less than $50,000 a year. Students from families that earn more will also benefit from more generous grants and loans, and about 80 per cent of all OSAP recipients will graduate with less provincial debt.

Lambton College’s Financial Aid department has been fully versed on the new guidelines and representatives will host information sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. during Open House to help students understand their financial aid options. Additional discussions about scholarships, bursaries and campus employment opportunities will also take place during each session.

Students and their families can use the new online calculator to quickly determine how much financial assistance they are eligible for, which may be more than they expect. All students are encouraged to visit to start their applications today.
