SARNIA, October 2, 2017 – With a growing number of students choosing to call Lambton College home, one of the biggest areas of enrolment growth in recent years is the number of international students who choose to complete their studies at the College.

In addition to accessing a world-class education at an affordable price, International students are also recognizing Sarnia as a safe, friendly city that is welcoming to the global community who choose to call the area home.

The total number of international students at Lambton College has more than doubled over the past five years, with current enrolment numbers for the fall 2017 semester at 772 students (up from 472 students over the same term in 2016). The majority of the College’s international student population come from India, Mexico, China, Brazil, and Jamaica.

International student demand for sought-after diploma and post-graduate academic programs at Lambton College is noticeable in the community. In addition to seeking out the College’s internationally recognized programs, global students are also drawn to the work experience opportunities available to them in the community through campus employment, co-op placements and post-graduate employment opportunities. Additionally, Lambton College is able to offer international students some of the lowest tuition and living costs in Canada.

In order to meet the needs of this growing student population, Lambton College has put various services and supports in place to ensure a smooth and welcoming transition for these students, including accommodation assistance, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, counselling support, and social activities.

“At Lambton College we are so fortunate to continue to welcome a growing number of students to our campus from all across the globe,” says Judith Morris, President & CEO, Lambton College. “Not only do these students allow us to continue to expand our student population but their presence in our city greatly enhances our intercultural understanding. I’m very thankful for the diverse, innovative and economic contribution our international students make to both our College and our community.”
