Popular Technology Forum to Highlight Lambton College’s Winter Open House

SARNIA, January 8, 2018 – Campus tours and program information aren’t the only highlights of Lambton College’s upcoming Winter Open House. The exciting new event, scheduled to take place Saturday, January 13 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m., is set to feature a jam-packed agenda filled with interactive activities and educational information that’s bound to appeal to incoming students.

Headlining the event will be the much-anticipated Technology Forum, featuring a lineup of presentations from local plant managers, including representatives from NOVA Chemicals, Imperial Oil and Bruce Power who will speak about the local labour market as it pertains specifically to Lambton College graduates. Recent graduates and co-op students will also speak about their own personal experiences and career prospects.

The Technology Forum will start at 10:30 a.m. and guests will learn more about why local projects, such as the recent investment of NOVA Chemicals’ new polyethylene facility in St. Clair Township, have lead to increased demand for skilled trades and technology graduates in the region.

Details and tours about the renovation and upgrade of Lambton College’s world class Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technology will also be available, including a full list of training labs and learning facilities.

“Our Technology Forum provides an excellent venue for prospective students and their families to hear from leaders of our local industry about opportunities for graduates right here in Sarnia-Lambton,” says Cindy Buchanan, Senior Director, Marketing, Communications & Brand Management, Lambton College. “Attendees will hear first-hand about how Lambton College aligns programs and training with the needs of local industry and the ways in which our new facilities are providing the innovative learning environments that will produce the skilled workforce needed to move local projects forward.”

Other highlights on the day’s agenda include the chance to chat with Deans, faculty, staff and students from all of Lambton College’s programs, and the chance to win some fantastic prizes including tuition for the 2018/2019 school year.

Additional incentives include a $25 gas card, to reimburse travel time for anyone who decides to apply to Lambton College during the event, and tailor-made tours and prizes for those who have already applied.

Guests of the day-long event will also have the opportunity to explore every corner of the campus via group tours and ongoing shuttles to the Fire & Public Safety Centre of Excellence, the Skilled Trades Training Centre and Residence.
