SARNIA, December 19, 2018 – It was a year of achievement for Lambton College.

As 2018 comes to a close, Lambton College is celebrating what will be remembered as one of the most successful years in College history.

Much of Lambton’s success in the past 12 months can be attributed to cornerstones such as career-focused programming, exceptional faculty and outstanding facilities.

In addition to new programs, a major campus renewal project, and transformative teaching methodologies, Lambton’s work in applied research, technology, health, international programming, social projects, and new sectors such as esports, exceeded expectations throughout the year.

As we move into 2019, we thought we would share a sampling of the many highlights that made headlines throughout 2018:

Enrolment Growth: Lambton College is now the post-secondary institution of choice for more than 13,000 students from 20 countries around the world.

#1 in Applied Research: According to Research Infosource Inc., which released its annual list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges in November, Lambton College is the #1 research college in Canada based on research income.

New Athletics & Fitness Complex: In October, athletes, fans, friends, and community supporters of Lambton College gathered to celebrate the official grand opening of the newly constructed, 40,000 sq. ft. Athletics & Fitness Complex.

New Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies: After a two-year, $14.2 million upgrade, Lambton College officially opened the new, world-class Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies, in September.

Enactus World Cup: Enactus Lambton, a student group formed in early 2012, celebrated global victory after being crowned World Champions at the 2018 Enactus World Cup, which took place in San Jose, California in October.

Social Responsibility: Less than 24 hours after they were crowned World Cup champions, Enactus Lambton accepted an Outstanding Business Achievement Award in the Social Responsibility category on behalf of the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce.

Leadership: Lambton College President & CEO, Judith Morris was awarded the Outstanding Business Achievement Award for Leadership, not only for her remarkable tenure at Lambton College but for her outstanding contributions to the Sarnia-Lambton Community, regional industry, and the provincial education sector.

Sold out crowds: All 370 tickets for The Lambton College Foundation’s signature fall fundraising event Corks, Caps & Cuisine sold out a month in advance.

Honouring Andrew S. Brandt: After more than 24 years at the helm of the Foundation, Andrew S. Brandt announced he would be stepping down from his active role as the Board’s Chair. In appreciation and recognition for his years of service, Lambton College honoured Brandt with the title of Chair Emeritus of The Lambton College Foundation.

New Brand: After nearly two years of consultation and research, Lambton College officially launched a new brand and logo, a stylized image of a shield.
