Lambton College celebrates major gift from Kel-Gor Limited employees

SARNIA, February 5, 2019 – An investment of $115,000 by the employees of Kel-Gor Limited is being directed to Lambton College’s new Athletics & Fitness Complex. The donation was made by Kel-Gor Limited’s Matt Gordon and Tom Parkes at an on-court cheque presentation ceremony during a break between the Lambton Lions men’s and women’s varsity basketball games on February 5.

The funding will support the Alumni Hall and VIP area, a unique space that cantilevers over the 1,241 seat double gymnasium for unparalleled views of the on-court action.

“Kel-Gor Limited is pleased to support Lambton College, its students, and the community at large with this investment,” says Gordon. “We recognize and value the importance of active living, and believe our investment in this facility will promote the ideals of teamwork, leadership, resilience, and personal well-being that are essential for a vibrant, productive, and healthy community.”

This latest contribution by Kel-Gor Limited is part of an ongoing and productive partnership between the industrial contractor and Lambton College. In past years, Kel-Gor Limited generously supported the Inspiring the Future campaign and has been a major sponsor of the annual President’s Gala event.

“Kel-Gor Limited’s commitment to our students and the community is a testament to their leadership and a welcome investment in enhancing campus life for all,” says Judith Morris, President and CEO of Lambton College. “We are grateful for their contribution to this vital and important initiative, which will have a positive impact on the student experience.”

The Alumni Hall and VIP area overlooks the 15,000 sq. ft. double gymnasium in the new Athletics & Fitness Complex, a world-class facility that is the newest gymnasium in the Ontario College system. The $18.2 million complex took approximately two years to complete and officially opened on October 18, 2018.

The gift from Kel-Gor Limited supports The Lambton College Foundation’s Envision Tomorrow Capital and Equipment Renewal Campaign, which launched in June 2015. The campaign was established to enhance academic programming, student athletic needs, and applied research opportunities, and includes the construction of the NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre, which officially opens in May, the new Athletics & Recreation Centre, and an equipment renewal program that will expand student and community capacity for experiential learning and corporate training.
