SARNIA, November 20, 2019 – An annual fundraiser with a long history of supporting applied learning opportunities for Lambton College students achieved a new benchmark this year.

The Lambton College Foundation is pleased to announce that the 14th Corks, Caps & Cuisine tasting event was their most successful on record, raising just over $32,000.

Corks, Caps & Cuisine was held on October 26, 2019 at the Lambton College Event Centre and was presented by the Sarnia Construction Association. The event, which featured a fun Haunted Mansion theme, showcased a variety of craft breweries, artisanal wineries, and local orchards. Each of the vendor’s premium beverages were paired with gourmet appetizers prepared exclusively by the College’s Culinary Management students under the supervision of Program Coordinator and Red Seal Chef Alastair Mackay. Students from the Hospitality Management program also gained hands-on hospitality experience, assisting with event preparation and providing first class service to attendees.

“Our students have impressed the community once again,” says Judith Morris, President & CEO of Lambton College. “I want to extend my congratulations to The Lambton College Foundation, Alastair Mackay, and students in our Culinary Management and Hospitality Management programs for a wonderful event.”

The sold-out event welcomed 350 guests who also enjoyed a silent auction, 50/50 draw, live music from Kraig Nienhuis, complimentary transportation at the end of the evening, and more. Many guests got into the spirit of the event and arrived in costume to celebrate the spooky season.

All proceeds from the event support the Envision Tomorrow Capital & Equipment Renewal Campaign, which was established to enhance academic programming, student athletic and recreation opportunities, and applied research opportunities. This initiative aims to further position Lambton College as a leader in educational programming and student life, attracting new students to the area and supporting the retention of highly skilled professionals for the local workforce. In the past two years, Corks, Caps & Cuisine has raised over $63,000 for the campaign.

The Lambton College Foundation extends their gratitude to the event sponsors who contributed to the evening’s success, particularly presenting sponsor Sarnia Construction Association and silver sponsor NOVA Chemicals. The Lambton College Foundation also thanks BES Construction Consulting, TD Insurance, Lambton College’s own Student Administrative Council, Lyndon Security, Trijan Industries, and Bluewater Power.
