Lambton College Showcases Student Research at Annual Research Day Event

SARNIA, March 11, 2020 – Student researchers were the highlight of Lambton College’s annual Research Day.

The yearly event, hosted by the College’s Research & Innovation department was held at the College’s Athletic & Fitness Complex, and provided guests with the opportunity to learn about research projects taking place at the College and about the benefits of participating in research from past and current student researchers.

Over 150 students, staff and faculty participated in the day’s event. Those in attendance were able to hear about past and current projects and speak with student researchers about their participation in these projects, and their overall experience as a student researcher.

“Student researchers are an integral part of the research team and the overall success of each research project the College undertakes,” explains Dr. Mehdi Sheikhzadeh, Vice President, Research & Innovation. “All of our research projects include student researchers and provides an opportunity for them to participate in real world research projects with industry partners. Students gain valuable, hands-on skills that compliment their in-class education and sets them apart to be competitive in today’s workforce.”

As part of the event, the Research & Innovation department also presented annual research awards of excellence in three categories: Researcher, Student Researcher and Industry Partner for their contributions and demonstrated excellence in research over the past year.

This year’s award recipients include:

  • Ruth Guerts - Researcher Award of Excellence
