Financial Planners work with clients to identify financial goals and to develop personalized savings and investment plans to realize those objectives. The Financial Planning certificate is an approved core curriculum program for students pursuing the
internationally recognized Certified Financial Planner® designation.
The courses in the program are also suitable for students interested in learning more about financial planning for their own purposes but who are not seeking a professional designation.
Successful completion of the Financial Planning certificate is the first step in the process of obtaining the Certified Financial Planner® designation.
Upon successful completion of the Financial Planning certificate, students pursuing the Certified Financial Planner® designation will:
- Participate in an on-line program review with the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning (CIFP)
- Write an in-class CIFP exam
- Write the FP Canada™ Level 1 Examination
For more information on the process for becoming a Certified Financial Planner®, please visit https://fpcanada.ca/certifications/cfp-certification
Lambton College is a CIFP Academic Partner and an FP Canada Approved Curriculum Provider.
Please Note: Effective April 2022, a post-secondary degree will be a requirement for CFP certification.
