Health Care

  • Medical Insurance Fee - $230 per term provided by GuardMe

Medical insurance is mandatory for all international students at Lambton College. This includes students full-time, part-time and co-op programs. Medical insurance is provided by GuardMe - a third party insurance provider. Full-time, part-time and co-op students of Lambton College are not permitted to opt-out of the medical insurance fee. Students are also responsible to ensure they are covered by appropriate insurance during their break(s).

Coverage is effective only from the first day of classes - not from the date you arrive in Canada. If your arrival date is prior to the start of classes, it is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance, including health insurance coverage, to cover yourself until the first official day of classes. Lambton College recommends that students purchase insurance before you leave your home country, while on break and after students have completed the program.

The academic terms for Lambton College are as follows:

    • (i) Winter Term – January 1 to April 30
    • (ii) Summer Term – May 1 to August 31
    • (iii) Fall Term – September 1 to December 31

Lambton College tuition must be paid in full in order for the guardme policy to be effective for the current term.

Coverage does not include over-the-counter medication.

It is also important to note that coverage is for registered students of Lambton College only. This coverage does not extend to spouses or children. If you have a spouse or any dependents, you may wish to pay a supplemental fee to include them in your coverage. The policy does not, nor is it intended to, replace the coverage under OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan), for yourself or any member of your family.

The health care insurance is a basic package that is subject to change on an annual basis. It is important to emphasize that not all conditions are covered and prospective international students are strongly urged to review the coverage details prior to arriving in Canada. This will allow time to purchase additional coverage if needed.
