    Ice Breaker - Meet other new students and get to know each other.

    Canadian Culture and You

    Discover what Canada has in store with this in-depth look at some of the challenges you will face when adapting to the Canadian lifestyle. This session will cover Canadian norms and expectations, appropriate clothing, where to buy necessities and how to handle Canadian winters.

    This interactive presentation will also test your knowledge of Canada, the province of Ontario and the city of Sarnia through student engagement and participation.

    Navigating Lambton Online

    Discover how to log into your school email account, view your class schedule and connect with your courses through D2L. This session will also show you where to find important dates and deadlines on mylambton.ca and will guide you through WebAdvisor.

    Meet the Associate Dean and Staff of the International Department

    Meet the associate dean, Hanna Eroglu, as she offers tips on how to be a successful student at Lambton College and life in Sarnia. You will also have a chance to meet the enthusiastic staff of the international department and will learn what they do at Lambton College.

    Sarnia Police and Fire Safety

    Meet a local Sarnia police officer and learn about important topics related to the law. Topics include: how to identify scams, privacy, what is consent and other Ontario laws. You will also meet local firefighters and hear about fire prevention and important safety tips. Learn what to do if a fire were to break out in your home through, city of Sarnia fire codes and the penalties students and landlords face if they do not abide by them.

    Academic Integrity

    Learn about the importance of having academic integrity. This session will cover what plagiarism is, testing policies and procedures and what constitutes cheating at the college level. Discover useful tools to help you avoid committing a cheating offence.

    Immigration Consultant

    Meet Bart Devries, our immigration consultant, and learn about important topics such as: traveling home while you are studying, conditions of a study permit, rules about working on and off campus, co-op work permits, extending your study permit, and obtaining a temporary resident visa. Following this session, there will be an opportunity to ask immigration questions.

    Know your Renting Rights - Landlord Tenant Act

    Meet YMCA's Newcomer Settlement Coordinator, Regina Croskery. Learn about various living options, how to find accommodations, what you can afford, lease agreements and rental procedures, questions to ask your landlord, and tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities in Canada. Receive a list of helpful resources and get all of your accommodation questions answered.

    Accommodation and Part-Time Jobs

    Discover the tools available at Lambton College to assist you in your job search such as job postings, resumé workshops, and mock interviewing. This session will also cover finding accommodations in Sarnia.

    GuardME Insurance and Health Services

    Learn about the health coverage available to you and how to add additional coverage and have your health expenses reimbursed. The Accessibility Centre will also discuss their services, the differences between service and therapy dogs and the needs of people living with disabilities.

    Local Bus and Bites Tour

    Join a Lambton College tour guide as you travel by bus to four local restaurants to enjoy some delicious Sarnia cuisine. There is an additional cost of $10/student to go on this tour.
