  • Employment Candidate Information

    • Are you out of work and looking for a job?
    • Do you feel like you can’t get a job without experience and can’t get experience without a job?
    • Are you a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident aged between 15-30?

The Lambton New Hire Incentive Program can help you start a career whilst providing you with paid-on-the-job training.

    How to get started:

    1. Fill out the NHIP Employment Candidate Registration Form to register as a potential employment candidate. We’ll then contact you to do a follow-up phone interview about your skills and job history.
    2. When an employment opportunity becomes available, we guide you through the intake process to start the program.
    3. We work with your new employer to determine what (if any) pre-employment training you need to be ready to start your paid on-the-job training.
    4. Once you have successfully completed the pre-employment training, your 12 weeks of paid on-the-job training start.
    5. During your 12 weeks of paid on-the-job training, you will have access to additional training to address any skills gaps identified by your employer.
    6. At the end of your 12 weeks of paid on-the-job training, you may be retained by your employer, or you may decide to further your education, or seek other employment opportunities.

  • Employer Information

To reduce the risks involved in hiring new employees, the Lambton New Hire Incentive Program provides eligible employers with funding for 12 weeks of on-the-job training, together with focused micro-credential-based upskilling (if needed) for employment candidates before and during the 12-week funded employment period.

The goal of the program is to support newly hired employees to ensure their success within new full-time positions within our communities. If you have recently hired full-time employees into newly-created roles, they may also be eligible for NHIP funding. Please contact us for more information.

    Employer Process

The process for employers interested in hiring employment candidates is as follows:

    1. Fill out the NHIP Employer Intake Form with the details of the position(s) you are looking to fill.
    2. If you would like an employment candidate to complete any pre-employment training before starting the funded employment period, our team will work with you to identify which Lambton College micro-credentials you would like them to complete (Please Note: pre-employment training is not mandatory to qualify for funding under NHIP. It is provided on an as-needed basis at the discretion of the employer).
    3. If you do not already have a candidate in mind for the position you are hiring for, Lambton College will identify an eligible employment candidate and (if needed) provide them with the agreed-upon pre-employment training before placing them with you as a new hire.
    4. At the end of the 12-week funded employment period, you can retain the employee, but are under no obligation to do so. If an employee hired under NHIP does not complete the full 12 weeks of employment, the employer is reimbursed on a pro-rated basis.
