Policy

  1. The President’s Award for Excellence recognizes a Lambton College employee who has made an outstanding contribution to student and community success, integral to achieving the strategic mission and vision of the College.

Eligibility

  1. All Lambton College employees with the exception of members of the Executive Leadership Team are eligible for consideration for the Award.

Criteria for Eligibility

  1. The recognition of the College employee under consideration must relate to outstanding contributions to the College or to extracurricular College-related contributions.
  2. The recognition must relate to a sustained contribution that demonstrates a meeting of the following criteria:
    1. innovation or enhancement of the College, or
    2. the provision of exceptional service to the College community, or
    3. the enrichment of College life or College effectiveness, or
    4. enhancement of community understanding or representation of the College, or
    5. significant contribution to the College reputation.
  3. Candidates must have been employed by Lambton College for a minimum of three years.

Recognition

  1. The President will present the award at the Employee Recognition event.
  2. The recipient will be presented with a framed certificate. The recipient’s name will also be included in a permanent display in the College.
  3. A President’s Award for Excellence Scholarship in the amount of $500 will be established to be awarded annually by the current recipient at the annual Awards Luncheon.
  4. The Board of Governors will be informed of the award recipient.

Procedure

Nomination

  1. Nominations will be accepted on an annual basis from all sectors of the College including faculty, staff and administration. A nomination form is available on line.
  2. The form, initiated by one nominator, supported by a seconder, should be submitted in confidence via the method outlined annually in the President message announcing nominations are open.
  3. All nominations are confidential.

Selection

  1. The nomination is submitted to the Lambton College Excellence Award Selection Committee whose membership is comprised of the following positions: Director Human Resources who also serves as Committee Chair, two support staff, one administrative staff , and two faculty . The Director of Human Resources recommends committee members, who are then appointed by the President and CEO. Members, other than the Director of Human Resources, serve for a three-year term . In order to ensure continuity related to the Committee’s processes, term completion of the members will be staggered, which may from time to time, require the membership of a member to be extended for one-year beyond the three-year limit, at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources.
  2. By consensus, the Committee will make a recommendation to the President and CEO
  3. The President has the final decision on the President’s Award for Excellence recipient(s).
  4. The Committee can review unsuccessful nominations from the previous year.
  5. The recipient of the President's Award for Excellence will be notified confidentially prior to the Employee Recognition Event.
