This course is intended to introduce the basic concepts of incident causation and investigations with a view to using those concepts for the strategic development of occupational health, safety and environmental processes within an organizational context. Students will learn how to apply the content to a wide variety of industrial and commercial settings, as well as many different types of organizations. Topics to be covered: Types of Investigation; Incident Causation Models, Relationship Between Causation Belief and Organizational Culture, Accident investigation, Accident Analysis, Developing Recommendations, and Linking Investigation to Organizational Values.
