More Information

The Information Technology Professional (ITPC) program curriculum was originally designed by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC), one of Canada's leading national centres of expertise for the digital economy. Lambton College and ICTC have been working collaboratively to offer the ITPC program since 1992.

The curriculum was designed and has continuously evolved to address what Canadian IT employers would like to see in graduates:

  • Increased practical experience and hands-on learning in labs and teams
  • Strong combination of communication, project management, business or organization and IT skills

Employers need IT employees who understand business processes and operations, communicate clearly and concisely about office technologies with non-technical co-workers and have the skills to research, present, implement and maintain new technical solutions to help organizations stay ahead. Today's successful IT graduates are highly-skilled, experienced and innovative individuals who have the right balance of business, technical, and interpersonal skills suited to today's complex business world.

The ITPC program has always been designed to provide our graduates with the skills required and requested from today’s IT employers in Canada. An important part of the program involves a virtual business named the Millenium Corporation. The Millennium Corporation is a registered trademark of the ICTC organization and represents a business simulation that allows students to participate as both employees and managers within a virtual company. It is an important part of the ITP program and designed by the ICTC organization as an integral tool for assisting IT students become job-ready. Students are given the opportunity to use their current and applied knowledge of business and technology to solve reality based business problems.

Students are often busy from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday attending classes, working in project teams and completing labs.
