Digital Brinell Hardness Tester
Hardness of a material is defined as the resistance to indentation, and it is determined by measuring the permanent depth of the indentation. The MicroStar SHB-3000D is a Digital Brinell Hardness Testing Machine with high accuracy, reliability and durability. The machine is equipped with automatic application, holding and removal of load. This machine also has a 20x Microscope, Flat Anvil 200mm, Flat Anvil 60mm, V-Anvil 55mm, Power Cable, Accessories Box, Anti-dust Cover, and Level Screw. The machine is capable of applying the following loads: 62.5kgf, 100kgf, 125kgf, 187.5kgf, 250kgf, 500kgf, 750kgf, 1000kgf, 3000kgf. Testing Range for this machine: 8 - 650 HBW. Maximum Vertical Capacity: 225mm, Throat depth: 135mm
Universal Testing Machine
A universal testing machine (UTM) is a material testing machine used to test the tensile strength and compressive strength of materials. The United STM model is a computer inclusive electromechanical testing system designed to work in conjunction with a variety of united test instruments and software, written specifically for different types of sample material including ceramics, plastics, polymers, metals and composites. This machine has a 20KN load cell.
Forcipol 2V Grinder & Polisher
Metallography consists of the study of the constitution and structure of metals and alloys. This technique requires magnification and preparation of the material's surface. Kemet preparation system is suitable for all metallographic applications such as grinding, lapping and polishing. The drive elements are fixed on heavy duty aluminum alloy casting. The wheels are mounted on ball bearings allowing the application of high pressures to prepare even large specimens. Metallurgical Microscope
Metallurgical microscopes are used to examine the microscopic mechanisms that affect the behavior of metals, their composites and alloys. MicroStar IMS-310 Infinitive Optical System provides excellent optical functions. The IMS-310 Inverted Metallurgical Microscope is widely used in many laboratories to observe and identify the various metals and alloy structures. It comes with a Focus System, coaxial coarse and fine adjustment, vertical objective movement, coarse stroke 37.7mm per rotation, fine stroke 0.2mm per rotation, and Infinite Plan Achromatic Objectives, 4X/0.1, 10X/0.25, 20X/0.4(S). 40X/0.6.
Coordinate Measuring Machine
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is a device for measuring the physical geometrical characteristics of an object. Mitutoyo Cysta-Plus M443 machine is a compact and easy to-operate measuring instrument featuring frictionless air-bearing suspension. The probe, which can be run by a computer program or an operator, moves along the axes to give an accurate measurement of the item that is being measured. These measurements are done with micrometer precision. The machine is able to get the measurements that allow the results to be used repeatedly to run tests and assure the quality of the item being measured.
Spectrometer - Agilent 4200 MP-AES
The Agilent 4200 MP-AES is the next generation of proven microwave plasma - atomic emission spectrometry. The safer, cost efficient Agilent 4200 MP-AES has higher sensitivity, detection limits down to sub ppb levels, speed that goes beyond flame Atomic Absorption, and no combustible gases. Perform unattended analysis on a broader range of a samples while benefitting from the lowest cost of ownership with the revolutionary technology that runs on air.  Two important advantages of this instrument are its low running costs and laboratory safety, as no expensive or flammable gases are required.

Post-Graduate Employment for International Students

International students who successfully complete their program of study at Lambton College may be eligible to apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit Program (PGWPP). The PGWPP allows students to gain valuable Canadian work experience.

A work permit under the PGWPP may be issued for the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years. A post-graduation work permit cannot be valid for longer than the student's study program, and the study program must be a minimum of eight months in length. The length and approval of the PGWPP is determined solely by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Students must meet the eligibility requirements to apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit.

Transferring to Sarnia Campus

Students can transfer to the main campus in Sarnia before or during the first ten days of any semester based on course and seat availability. Special permission from the Dean of International must be granted upon receipt of written request sent by email listing the student’s name, Lambton ID and reason for requesting the transfer. Transfers during the Co-op semester are not permitted.

Student Responsibilities

  • Course and program delivery schedules are proposed and subject to change for each intake. Students are required to bring their own laptop with wireless capability.
  • Students are advised to bring an official copy of their most recent police clearance, driver's license and vaccination record from their home country.
